Forestiere Underground Gardens

It's been a busy few months for us. We went to Yellowstone, visited Fresno, and Brev's mom came to visit. We also have two trips planned for August to Utah. One for Brev's sister's wedding and then a Bear Lake trip with my family. We're still going through lots of the pictures, so there's only a few to show right now. I'll post the others later when they are ready. Also, exactly two years ago today we moved to California. It's crazy how fast time went. We absolutely love living here in the Bay Area.

The first part of July, Brev and I took a little weekend trip to Fresno, CA. It's about a two hour drive inland. It's amazing what a few hours does in a difference of temperature. Where we live it's about 65-75 almost all year long. But the weather in Fresno was at least a 100 every day we were there. We mostly just played in the pool and ate great food. We did go to one place called the Forestiere Underground Gardens. It was built by Baldasare Forestiere, an immigrant from Sicily, over a period of 40 years from 1906 to until his death in 1946. He built the catacombs to get away from the Fresno heat and to grow fruit. The temperature was at least 100 above ground, but as soon as you went underground, it was a cool 75. It was so amazing how he built them. Here are some pictures and to see the rest click here.

Hornblower Cruise

Last Friday we went on a dinner cruise around the Bay. The scenery was great, the food was fantastic, and we had a blast. The highlight of the cruise was being able to go under the Golden Gate Bridge. You really got an idea how big the bridge is. It was at night when we went under it, so we didn't take any pictures. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Here are some pics from the rest of the cruise. And to see the rest click here. Oh and just to clarify about the last post, I HATE mustaches. When Brev was shaving, he so kindly didn't shave off the mustache and made me kiss him. It was disgusting. But he sure thought he was funny.

Stiff upper lip.

I would like to take this opportunity to pay homage to my wife's recently uncovered secret attraction: The Moustache.

It explains her fascination with private investigators, Hawaii, Ferrari's, and the desire to have been born 20 years earlier:

I also now realize why she's always watching Civil War documentaries:

No wonder she always wants to attend the local city council meetings. And here I thought she was just a good citizen:

I found this sketch she made in her school notebook:

Her favorite video game character? Hint: Not Bowser.

Boyakasha! Hear me now.

And finally, Brad Pitt. She would probably marry and kiss someone who looked an awful lot like this:

So if you ever need to get Britt a present, just get her a Moustache.

Spring has Sprung

Here are some pictures of our backyard. The pink flowers on the side bloomed over night. There are tons of them. And if I remember correctly from last year, they only last about a month. In the planter in the middle is our attempt to grow tomatoes, cilantro, and green onions. They are actually growing surprisingly well. We are excited that our first attempt at gardening is going good. I'm not sure what kind of flowers the white ones are. The owners planted them, and we were pleasantly surprised when we saw them. Enjoy the pics of our blooming backyard.

Blondes Have More Fun

As I've gotten older my hair has started to darken. It still looked blond, but not the light blond I used to have. I was scared to color my hair, I never have and I was worried that coloring would damage my hair. It took a lot of coaxing from Brev and my sister Tracee. Tracee is almost done with beauty school and she gave me good tips on what to use on my hair. So last week I finally bought the stuff and Brev colored my hair. He did an awesome job and I love it! I don't know what I was so scared of. The two pictures I have are in different lighting, but you can still see a change.

I love it!

Brittney's Birthday

For my birthday, Brev surprised me with a night up in San Francisco. We stayed at the Westin St. Francis on Union Square and did some shopping. The big surprise was this awesome dinner- show called License to Kiss by Teatro ZinZanni. The dinner was a 5-course meal, some of the nicest food we've ever eaten. While you were eating, the show was being performed all around you. The show was a comedy with acrobatics with a Casablanca style. It was amazing and so much fun. Here are some pictures from this adventure:

Looking up Powell Street where all the fun shopping is.

They didn't allow camera's into the show so here is one
I found online that shows the inside.

This was the main comedian of the show.

As we were walking back to our hotel around midnight, we heard some loud music being played and saw a bunch of rollerbladers going down the street. They ended up at Union Square and were having a rollerblade party. It was intertaining to watch. That's what's going on in the picture below.

Valentines Day

Brev surprised me this year by taking me to the W Hotel in Newark, CA. I've never heard of a W hotel before, but it is the nicest, hippest hotel I've ever stayed in. It reminded me a lot of Vegas, but the rooms were even decked out. It didn't feel or look like a hotel room, it seemed like somewhere you would actually live. We also went to Olive Garden for lunch (my favorite) and ate a yummy burger in the hotels restaurant for dinner. We also saw Coraline in 3D. This movie was amazing. We both loved it. It is a must see, especially in 3D. Here are some of the pictures from the hotel, but I don't think they do it justice. Click here for all the pictures.
